When adding to an appropriate variable in HaikuImage, like Adrien did, the symlink gets created automagically due to rules in the Development Optional Package. Since we're not changing HaikuImage, we have to explicitly create the symlink.
GCC on both Haiku and BeOS picks up only libraries in /boot/develop/ lib/x86. If they are elsewhere, the path needs to be specified via -L. Could well be that BeIDE does that for you.
