Hi Brian, > What does everyone recommend as an IDE for Haiku? I know of Niue, Paladin and and Sisong. I'm sure HaikuWare lists more. Out of these three, Paladin is closest to the BeIDE, but you might want to try out all three to see what works for you. If you don't already have the developer tools (GCC and friends), get them from http://ports.haiku-files.org/wiki/Downloads. Alternatively, you can get them from http://www.haiku-files.org/files/optional-packages, although I believe HaikuPorts might have a newer build. That said, most developers seem to prefer a text editor and a Terminal window. GVim and Pe are the most popular choices. There's also an XEmacs port somewhere. > Are there any tutorials on > getting started on developing for Haiku? After 9 years I feel a little > behind the times. Thanks. The two major changes are the LocaleKit (see PulkoMandy's blog at http://www.haiku-os.org/blog/2080) and the layout API (http://www.haiku-os.org/documents/dev/laying_it_all_out_part_1). Everything else in the BeBook still works as it used to in the BeOS. -- Salut, General Maximus
