Craft stores and hardware stores have small hinges. You might be able to use
Sugru or polymorph plastic (like Friendly Plastic) to create a mounting area
for the hinges. A double hinge (or whatever the Z-shaped ones are called)
might provide enough space so that you don't have to flatten an edge.
