[hackpgh-discuss] ColdHeat soldering iron

Has anyone ever used this ColdHeat soldering iron before?

My friend is interested in it for working on modding action figures -
he heard it would get to a good temperature to just melt plastic a
little so he could remove a part without melting/burning it
completely.

The internet doesn't like it because it doesn't get hot enough to do
any actual soldering.

I figured I would ask the experts if you guys had any other ideas for
slightly melting plastic.
