However, dont forget that even before social media, stories of
struggle crossed seas. History of popular struggle is much longer than
facebook. More over, it will get more difficult as we go on with our
decreased confidence and increased power of the likes of facebook.
Network effect will pull us in.
Alternate(or rather long term) plan - encourage people to use
alternative platforms, email, irc. jabber etc. It may be slow and
difficult process, but as people realise the trap they will move away.
Newsgroups and Mailinglist used to do what facebook is doing today
Short term - fight it even when u are forced to leverage on it.
Control your practices to ensure safety of yourself and those you care
about.
