Yes, it's hardware since, as was stated earlier, it plugs
into a USB port.

It is memory, since it has no moving parts. However, it
appears on your system as a disk drive, and can be treated
in much the same way as a disk drive.

Physically, most are about the size of your little finger.

They are extremely handy if you want to copy files from one
PC to another.

George.

It is simply a small piece of electronics,
which acts just
                like a disk drive.

It may plug into an available USB port, or
have a dedicated
slot, depending on make and type.

Very convenient for moving large files
about. They come in
various sizes from a few Megabytes to around
and even over a
                Gigabyte.

                George.

                Hello,

Just what is a memory stick and how does one
use it? What
are its advantages and disadvantages and how
accessible are
                they?

Thank you for answering what I suppose is a
very novice
                question.
