Thanks to one of the suggestions I received, I was able to play around and fix the problem. I went to the Effects menu, to Pitch, and highlighted "Down One Octave". I then went back to the Effects Menu, went to Playback Rate, and highlighted 50%. This solved the problem and I was able to use a different filename to save the file in mp3 format.
