Yes, there is something unique, perhaps, now that I've looked at the site. (You need to have a braille display and/or a fair knowledge of italian to appreciate what's going on!) Portions (a paragraph each) of the page are designed, one for synthesised speech and one for braille. (There was special software developed for this.) Also, it looks as if the 'new browser window' part is either partly or all invisible, though here I'm speaking without sighted assistance to verify, but from what I gathered from reading it! For at least my personal curiosity, I'm going to contact an Italian blind email friend to get the real story on using it maximally. Buon Corragio! I haven't gone to the website however. Is this related to the earlier post Friday about the tactile display developed in Spain? Is this some sort of screen reader software or a hardware technology? Thanks for the post -- perhaps I should go to the site. Have a good weekend. --le ----- Original Message ----- >From: "beth" <fb-oe@xxxxxxx> To: "NFBnet GUI Talk Mailing List" <gui-talk@xxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Friday, January 07, 2005 8:45 PM Subject: [gui-talk] Fw: BlindNews: Web without barriers ----- Original Message ----- >From: "Leon Gilbert" <BlindNews@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: "Blind News Mailing List" <BlindNews@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Friday, January 07, 2005 8:28 PM Subject: BlindNews: Web without barriers > Full Press, Italy > Friday, January 07, 2005 > > Web without barriers > > By Mario Calamia > > The Braillenet System is a revolutionary system that provides access to Internet for blind people. > > It operates by utilizing the black key present on the computer key-board capable of commuting a text into the graphic screen of the Braille Code.
