Have you tried the system tray?  My Toshiba has a mouse touchpad entry there.

It also has a hotkey, but it isn't a Dell so that's probably irrelevant.

Failing that, I've seen many users cover the pad with
something like one of these store collector's points cards,
which look and feel like a credit card.  If you just tape it
down on one side, it can them be opened like a book to allow
someone to use it if needs be.

Do anyone know how to disable a mouse touch pad on a Dell
