Hi, The DC Night Out blog and podcast now has a recording of much of the BITS (Blind Information Technology Specialists) Assistive Technology Vendor Show Case which took place at the Jacksonville ACB (American Council Of The Blind) convention on Sunday July 9th. The showcase is a meeting in which leading assistive technology companies make 5-10 minute presentations about their products and/or what is new. You will likely find both familiar and new companies as you peruse the 2006 showcase of 18 vendors. The vendors also describe special promotions available during the consumer conventions. The show entry also has links to the 18 web sites of each of the presenting vendors. The show is approximately 2 hours and 17 minutes, and the mp3 file is about 64MB. You can click on the link below to access the text and show directly: http://www.dcnightout.com/2006/07/09/bits-assistive-technology-showcase-podc ast/ If you click on the "download or listen," link from the above web page, in most cases, the file will just start playing in Windows Media Player. Your computer should start playing the file almost immediately, it does not need to first download all 64MB. If you want to download the podcast via an RSS feed, the feed URL is: http://www.dcnightout.com/feed/ While you do not need any particular software application to manually listen to podcasts, the Juice Podcast receiver is a program that will automatically download podcasts of your choice on to your computer. You can then listen to programs on portable devices, or when disconnected from the internet. You can download Juice from the link: http://www.dcnightout.com/j_setup.exe Other shows may also be recorded and posted from the convention at the blog/podcast home page: http://www.dcnightout.com Some of the other blog, podcast, and media web sites providing convention coverage include: http://www.acbradio.org http://www.mosenexplosion.com http://earlenehughes1.livejournal.com/ http://www.blindaccessjournal.com Note that BITS also made an official recording of the showcase directly off of the sound system, and if you join the group I believe that a tape or other audio will be provided. with some or all of this presentation. ** To leave the list, click on the immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:guispeak-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe] ** If this link doesn't work then send a message to: ** guispeak-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ** and in the Subject line type ** unsubscribe ** For other list commands such as vacation mode, click on the ** immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:guispeak-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=faq] ** or send a message, to ** guispeak-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the Subject:- faq
