I read all your emails regarding pastry and noticed that there is a lot of confusion about the type of pastry and cooking times. The pastry is all ready made and comes in a box similar shape and size to that of a tin foil box, long and narrow and you can freeze it and use accordingly, just defrost night before. The pastry inside the box has been pre-rolled onto a grease proof paper, so all you have to do is unroll it until it is flat, keeping the grease proof paper under it. The pastry is called Jus-Rol or Tesco ready made rough puff pastry or similar, there are also shortcrust pastry and many others. If wanting to cook in the microwave, I recommend as I have done this through trial and error, that you cut the pastry into quarters or the required size you want or use the large circle pastry cutter or saucer or any shape you want, and cook on a browning plate for 3 minutes or until you can tap it gently with a knife until you hear or feel the crisp flakiness. When you take it out of the microwave and turn it over, you may want to return it to microwave to cook for a further minute to get same result as the top side. In a small microwave bowl, you cook the desired filling for 2 minutes, like a tin of pie filling like corned beef hash or apple pie filling or black cherry filling or mince beef and onion or grated cheese mixed with some ham that is broken up into little bits. Once you have heated the required pie filling, put some onto a plate or dish and put the piece of cooked pastry on top, serve the sweet pie fillings with whisk and serve custard or extra thick double cream and the savoury pie filling ones with vegetables, potatoes or croquettes or roasties and gravy. Aunt Bessie is a name of a product and make roast potatoes, parsnips and many more and can be cooked on the browning plate in the microwave. Aunt Bessie also makes yorkshire puddings that you can put in the freezer and just take straight from the freezer without defrosting and put straight into the microwave upside down is best for 1 minute. Bisto granuals is good for making gravy, if one person just put 2 teaspoonfuls in a jug and pour a little boiling water at a time and continue with more boiling hot water until required thickness. Bisto also make parsley sauce granuals, best way is to put 2 teaspoonfils of granuals into microwave jug and mix with a tiny bit of boiling water until disolved, then put half a mug of milk and thicken in microwave, stirring each minute until creamy, then serve with Wiltshire sliced ham and tin of Jersey royal potatoes and garden peas.
