Once I got home with Melony my first dog things changed for me as I was able to go out without the family all wanting to go with me, I went a few weeks later back to Exeter on the train to meet the trainer who had trained us together as she was leaving to go and work in another centre,we had a good day together and she took me to see her horse who was the same colour as Melony and Sarah the trainer used to take Melony to the stables with her sometimes so the two knew each other, they were sniffing each other when Sarah gave me a curry comb and told me to get combing, I didn't bring you here for nothing she said, I was delighted as I love horses as well as dogs, When I got back home at the end of the day I wanted to stand on the rooftops and shout hey look what I did I went to Exeter on my own with just the dog it was the first time I had travelled outside Barnstaple in ten years, to me that was a great achievement as I have always been very nervous of going too far by myself I had a fear of traffic as a child and am still a bit that way, as time went on Melony and I started to give talks about guide dogs it was a wonder I didn't give up after the first talk as it was to a group of elderly people and the person in charge of them stood up and said "this afternoon we have Mrs Lock to speak to us, I only asked her as I don't suppose she ever goes out unless people like us ask her to come and talk to her, with that I stood up and told them what a busy life I had and just because you are blind it doesn't mean you can't do anything a sighted person does, watch this space for next episode, kind regards from Jenny Ray and doggies skype name jenny.mock97
