Carol, You sound very talented and creative. You obviously have a heart for kids. Have you considered volunteering at a local kids care center one day a week. Possibly getting the center to pay your transport and going and working with the kids on arts and crafts for one day per week. This would give you a creative outlet and let you work with the kids. Could be good for future too as the kids would remember how talented a blind lady was that taught them arts and crafts. Thank You, David L. Perhaps you could get some craft stuff in for kiddies In Wilkinsons stores they have toy boxes all different sizes plastic tupperwear in all colours. Well there is small one about the size of a4 paper . In there are shapes glue stickes foam shapes and cards and tiny stampers. this is around £3.99 to £5 depending on the ammount of craft in there. Another idea is to go to craft shop fo the older kids you can buy these rubber moulds shaped in animals cats dogs rabits also have castle desney charaters like alice in wonder land sleeping beauty etc yu buy bag of white powder . what happens is hold mould upside down but first of all mixed the white powder in jug using tablespoons full of powder mix it then pour it in to mould leave it upside down in a jar perhaps because it got to set for a day or two. once its hard pull rubber off then have shaped . ideal for kids to paint the figers too. Very good. Another idea here is, buy packets with already do it yourself puppet kit yu get puppets in like a glove shaped if yu like made of felt material Got holes all the way round you get thread with it in wool and plastic needle for kids to sew around the puppets got eyes to sew on and nose where its open at botton stuff it with cotton wool or the real thing stuffing Another idea here is too buy cheap cards all different colours from market or stationery departments let kids fold over the cards buy them stencils which is like a plastic frame in shape of what ever for example train or car or dog etc get the child to use feltips pens to draw and colour them in get them to make cards for there friends Also buy packet of glue sticks 5 on pack for a £1 from the pound shop or pound land get shapes in packets foam flowers or butterflies or animals in bag from pound shop for the child to stuck on card.
