Hi Donna, Keith and all. Good to know I'm not the only one who has my food cut up and eats with a spoon and fork and of course that's true it doesn't bother kids as long as it's explained to them that's what matters so doesn't affect their eating with a knife and fork. Donna I'm so glad your family all understand as mine do. I actually have the spoon in my left hand and my fork in my right as I'm left handed. I use the fork to shove the food onto the spoon. Yes I do use my fingers if needed and yes Malcolm you are right being blind is such a challenge and seeing the funny side is the best way for sure. Oh Keith yes I can imagine going blind must have been a big shock for you and you having to adapt to a different way of life and even worse you couldn't carry on your work as a lorry driver which you must have enjoyed. Ah that's awful your brothers and sisters don't bother with you since you went blind. That's something we have in common. My sister has never really bothered with me even though we are twins which is even more shocking as we're meant to be even closer. You would think my blindness would make us even closer as she would be more loving and caring towards me but sadly it hasn't worked out that way. You would think me being blind since birth would mean Elaine would accept me as I am as she has never known me to be any different but sadly that's not the case. I do try not to let her bother me when she ignores me and all that but I admit it still hurts. Keith I'm so sorry you lost your wife you must miss her so much. I'm sure you have lovely memories of her you treasure forever. So happy you have carers to help you with shopping, cooking and cleaning etc. Yes I agree friends can be much better than family so that saying is true you can choose your friends but not your family. I have friends that treat me so much better than my own sister and cousins do. Love Clare xxxx
