We are not changing how we take attendance as well. As Flora stated the
attendance they are talking about in the bill is different than what we
currently reporting. I think they wanted us to define this process but until we
get further guidance we aren’t really doing anything.

This still needs many many many discussions in my opinion.
Period attendance or school attendance in general in my opinion based on what I
understand is NOT the same as the 'attendance' that they want to teach for
students for this new bill.
School attendance vs being present is not the same thing. Before vendors or we
start making changes to how we take 'school' attendance I think more
conversations need to be had.
We too are NOT doing anything different this year since it is a pilot year and
as Wanda has said we are not reporting school attendance any differently than
before.
We don't have the time and energy to put man hours into something that know one
really know how to do or track only to find out it was all reported wrong.
All of us wasted too much time the past two years in reporting SLO student data
only to have it changed how it's report to the DOE -- we are not making that
same mistake again. We don't have the time or resources to spend on something
that they don't know how to 'process' on their end or to know who it will
impact us.
I hope what I'm trying to convey makes sense.
Bless those who will spend a year trying to figure it out! We will follow to
lead of others and go from there when it's time to actually report it and
hopefully learn from their mistakes.

Bibb is taking period attendance in MS but not due to SB 364. We started this
last year. It’s a mess. Since our schools have different schedules due to their
connections being 90 min we have had to use different schedule structures for
each grade level.
We are not doing period attendance in ES but dread having to do it because we
suspect we will have to use different schedule structures for them as well.

Good morning, are any of your districts taking period attendance in elementary
and middle schools? If so, do you have a policy/procedures for them. It has
been quite the fiasco here in Newton Co. Any assistance is appreciated. Donna

Based on the changes in SB364, will there be any changes to how we report
attendance this year?
Thanks,
Josh
