Mark- The synchronous foreground message is normal for an XP machine processing software installation policy, because XP is set by default for asynchronous foreground processing and software installation requires a synchronous foreground event. I suspect that if you reboot one or two more times, that the package will get installed. If you want to avoid this in the future, you can enable the following policy on your XP machines: Configuration Configuration\Admin Templates\System\Logon\Always wait for the network for computer startup and logon Darren Darren Mar-Elia For comprehensive Windows Group Policy Information, check out www.gpoguy.com <http://www.gpoguy.com/> -- the best source for GPO FAQs, video training, tools and whitepapers. I have setup a GPO just for this. When the computer starts up it looks like it is processing the GPO and attempting to install the package. But in the event viewer are 3 warnings with event IDs 101, 103 and 108. They seem to have something to do with a synchronous foreground refresh. What am I missing? Is it something set in a different GPO that is stopping this? Mark Schwartz Director of Technology Direct Dial 860.561.6895Blum, Shapiro & Company, P.C.
