Yep, it shouldn't be too difficult to make a WMI filter apply is the statement is false. I thought they would have fixed that in 2008. Guess not. But IMHO this memory formfactor is "close enough" compared to the typical hardware these days - I personally doubt that we will find a 100% match WMI filter for anything which has to do with hardware... But if someone out there should have a better solution feel free to let us all know. So far Joel was the fastest to come up with what I'd call a solution for most companies - from my experience J In your case I guess you'd have to go for the model name or somethin' - unless some Knight of WQL Wisdom solves the Wind32_Battery "syntax problem" we have... That would really nail this one 99.999% I guess J Best regards /Jakob From: gptalk-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:gptalk-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of prankmonkey Sent: 18. februar 2008 12:40 To: gptalk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [gptalk] Re: The WMI Filter Contest We have Acer Veriton 1000s which use SODIMMS and are SFF-Desktops. Thanx to Darren for throwing in a price to make it even more interesting! Was talking over the differences between laptops and desktops with someone in the support department here (i'm in development at the moment although I tend to wander over there as the problems are more interesting). He mentioned SoDimm and I found the appropriate WMI class, wrote the query and did some testing. So he certainly deserves a lot of the credit for it if it turns out to be the solution. I'll get back to you when I know more, but looking at this link, http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa394347(VS.85).aspx <http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa394347%28VS.85%29.aspx> , I think you might have nailed it as the first one here! The assumption is that all laptops will have this style memory and desktops will not. Works in my environment, but it's a pretty small environment.
