Thanks for that Ian. It sounds like you are using GPMC APIs for most of the
GPO object stuff and then looking to automate the process of adding packages
to GPSI? And from your previous emails, it sounds like you're getting close,
so I think it will be worthwhile to some people. Over the years, I've had
folks ask about automating package creation and as you've discovered, its
do-able if not a bit complex.
So, yes I think there would be general list interest in posting this if you
want to.

Hmmm....maybe I should turn it into a commercial product, since it's
generating so much interest...
Just so we're clear, this script has been designed to streamline our MSI
deployment process. I'm mouse-agnostic and regard 50-odd clicks to add an
MSI to a GPO as tantamount to torture. So, it:
- parses the name of the folder containing the application's MSI
- gets the UNC name for the folder
- creates the group which will contain the application's users
- creates the GPO
- links the GPO to our testing GPO
- removes 'Authenticated Users' from the linked GPO
- adds the application group (and others unique to our environment) to the
linked GPO
- sets appropriate permissions for the added groups
Ultimately, it will then add the MSI to the linked GPO. This is the part
which is not working at present. It will.
Given its quite specific nature, it may not have universal appeal. Having
said that, most areas of functionality are contained in a Sub or Function so
it could probably be re-purposed.
If I do decide to post it, there will be a delay while I edit out
client-specific code. Still interested?

Yes, it is possible and I have a script which does that very thing. The
only thing it can't yet do, which the GPExpert Scripting Toolkit can do
(amongst many other things), is add MSIs to GPOs which, given that this was
the driving force behind the script's creation, is a bit of a blow! :)
However, I am *this* close to sorting that.
Your requirements may be different though so, if you'd like, I can send it
to you. In its current state, it could be edited to suit practically any
purpose GPO-wise.

Good afternoon everyone
New to the group, and hoping you can help. Is it possible to, not only
create and link a GPO through script, but also populate it with settings?
Thanks for any help you can provide.
