Yes, its probably not a great idea to redirect both to the same location.
The other alternative is that you just ignore the error.

I have my desktop and start menu folder re-directing to the same place since
I want the same shortcuts on both. Should I split them up instead? I don't
really want an empty "programs" folder on the desktop, but I don't want to
put the desktop icons in a programs folder either since some users won't be
able to find them.

Actually, I've seen this message before. You get this when you are
redirecting Start Menu, since Programs is a folder under Start Menu. Try
creating a 'Programs' folder on your server-based redirected Start Menu
folder-I suspect the message will go away.

You sure you not possibly redirecting "Application Data" to a folder named
"Programs" on your network?

I have GP set up for my Terminal Server and I keep getting this error in my
event log:

Failed to perform redirection of folder Programs. The new directories for
the redirected folder could not be created. The folder is configured to be
redirected to <\\tm-newport\terminalserverfolders\general\Programs>, the
final expanded path was
<\\tm-newport\terminalserverfolders\general\Programs>. The following error
occurred:

Access is denied.

I don't understand this because I have the Desktop, Start Menu, and My
Documents redirecting, but there isn't even an option to redirect
'Programs". So I'm not sure where this error is coming from. Any ideas?

Thank you!
