Well as long as their were no basic connectivity problems - DNS issue would be my guess. Can you resolve addresses for the missing DCs?
Try putting the dc addresses in your local hosts file to check.I think you can also get issues like this caused by incorrect DNS suffix - login with full domain name/user account or try just the user account (which login will presume is in your target domain)
