Any other ideas on this? My users have to reset their default printer
each time they log in...

If I am using GPO Preferences, I am not intending to... Would I know it
if I was?
All my other settings stick.
TS is a 64 bit Windows 2003 server
The default printer should be whatever the user wants... I just want it
to save that setting, but it reverts it every time. It always makes the
first printer in line the default . It is happening to everyone the
Policy is applied too.
I have the RDP set to map the all local printers to the TS session. It
is mapping the printers, but not setting the same one as default.
I have windows classic menu forced, but all other settings seem to be
sticking.

By any chance are you applying a GPO that uses GPO preferences and is
setting the default printer?
Can you see that other settings stick?
What OS version is the terminal server?
Help me understand specifically what the intended default printer is and
what is it reverting to- oh- and is it happening to everyone or just one
or a few people?
I remember some setting in TS that has to deal with mapping the user's
default windows printer but I don't recall if that is in the RDP client
or only on W2k8 terminal server or w2k3 but I have seen this before
somewhere.
Do all other setting changes stick- say going switching between start
menu choices- classic and regular?

This is on a terminal Server. I've deleted the local profile and tried
to have it rebuild when the user logs in, but the same problem occurs.
I logged on as one of the users who is having this problem, set the
default printer, then logged off. This is the only thing in the Event
Viewer related to logging off:

Other possibilities...
1) The End User is not using their normal profile when they log on
(possibly due to corruption). At logoff, a temporary profile will be
erased.
2) The End User's local profile is not actually saving/unloading at
logoff.
In both cases, you should find traces of this information in the local
device's Application Event log.

Savanah-
This actually should not be something that gets lost at logoff. That is
normally stored in the user's profile automatically. Is the user using a
roaming profile or local one?
