OK...well, after testing this solution...it seems the application does indeed
install, but is not fully "activated" for use. A local (or domain) admin needs
to log onto the PC and still install the ActiveX component from a site using
Flash Player. Once that's done, all other users are able to view flash-enabled
programs or websites. Am I just missing something? When looking at software
assigning at MS, this is what they said: The core application is not installed
until the user activates the application on the computer by one of three ways:
selecting the application from the Start menu, clicking s shortcut on the
Desktop, or by activating a document of a file type that is associated with the
application

Yeah, that's why you would do it as a machine-assigned software install...It
will have admin rights because it is running at NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM.

Thank you Jamie...I got the msi download and will try it out. I'm not sure
it'll work as I'm reading on the site that local admin rights are still needed,
but we'll see...

There is a Flash Player ActiveX MSI package available through the Adobe
Distribution program. It's free but you have to signup. Push that out through
machine assigned software and you should be good to go.

Subject: [gptalk] Allowing FlashPlayer
Hi All...
I'm not sure if any of you experienced this in the past, but there was an Excel
spreadsheet that was being passed around via email that had games inbedded into
it using Flash (Ms. Pac Man, Galaga, and a couple others). As such, we used GP
to not allow users to be able to use Flash. Since there hasn't been a problem
with that lately, and the fact that more and more websites are using Flash we
have come to the point to allow Flash again. We disallowed it by setting
permissions on the Flash folder using GP. I have since changed the permissions
accordingly, but am still having a 2nd 'ary problem. When going to a site with
Flash, users are prompted to download Flash, by getting the ActiveX bar at the
top of their IE window. They click on it and prompted to download/install Flash
but since they're not local admins (only power users) they still can't see the
web page correctly. Is there way using GP to allow ActiveX to automatically
install (which may be a risk) or any way around this that you guys are aware of?
Thanks in advance!
