There is nothing in GP to change the default object type in that list that I'm
aware of.

When I want to add a machine to a group, an activity mostly connected with GP
deployment, I get either an error (if I remember to click 'Check name') or a
list of users (if I hit 'Enter'). I need to add 'Computers' to the object types
being searched in order for that to work.

That is, I want to avoid having to:

- click 'Object types'
- select 'Computers'
- click 'OK'

every time. I want that 'Computer's object type to be pre-selected.

I'm sorry Ian, I don't understand what you're trying to do; could you give more
detail of what you're trying to "manipulate" in the AD U&C MMC?

Thanks.

I am continually frustrated by the need to add 'Computers' as an object type
when manipulating the 'Active Directory Users and Computers' MMC plug-in. Is
there a way to force that type to be added as a default?
