[gpsbug] New Years Day Regatta

Reminder:

If you want to compete New Year's day, you need to let me know by Friday.
GPYC will put up prizes for boats finishing:

First (if only one or two boats show up).
First and Second (if three or four boats).
First, Second, and Third (if more than four boats).

Start will be at WSSC starting mark (entrance to Pagan River Channel).

11:10 AM - Start

This time, we will all start at the same time, and I'll apply handicap after
we finish.  So, it is very important that you record your finish time down
to the second, and get it to me right after the race.  I'll need to come
ashore to compute winners and we'll meet after race at the club.

This is honor system, and the system we will follow next season for WSSC.  

Sadly, I delivered Rebecca J to Hampton today.  Had a great sail from here
to Hampton Yacht Club in about three hours.  Featured Dead calm, broad,
close reaching, a beat around Newport News point, and a spinnaker reach from
there to Hampton River.  New owners were delighted and I'm having "seller's
remorse".  On the other hand, I saw a beautiful J30 at Annapolis yesterday
and one of them may soon be gracing our slip.

J30 rates a little bit slower than the 27 but has standing head room
(5'11"), and actually has an enclosed head with a shower.  Also a diesel
that starts with a switch so I don't have to pull my back out with the *****
ouboard.   I may be getting old enough for such comfort.
