That is exactly it. Write a note on a Braille business card saying
something like, "May I use my Braille GPS system in flight?" Hand
that to the flight atendant and ask that it be given to the pilot. Do
not ask the attendant for permission. It must come from the pilot. I
have never been turned down. Sometimes they will ask questions or ask
to see the device but mostly they are quite interested in how it
works. I even know of pilots which have given permission for the
device to be used all the way to the landing, quite unusual.
Once you get permission, take the receiver out of its case and slip
it behind the window shade so that it is sandwiched in the middle of
the window. Some windows are better suited to picking up signals than others.
It is definitely interesting to hear what you are passing over and to
see the speed and altitude.

I have heard of folks doing that, but it technically violates FAA
policy because of the bluetooth radio. You can ask the pilot for
permission, and if he or she gives permission, you can use it.

That's cool to use the gps system everywhere you go. I have a
question. How can you use the gps on the plane? I've been using the
gps on my Braille Note for a year now and I really enjoy it very
much. Whenever you get the time, you could email me.
