[gps-talkusers] Re: uninstall old GPS versions first

For some reason I couldn't get the resets to work, and I tried all of them, that's how I came up with the idea of deleting the program. I don't know why I had that problem, and sure am glad that others didn't. However, if the install deletes manuals which aren't needed any more, I'm wondering if it might be a good idea to make the uninstall a part of future releases since space is so limited?

No Terry you are right on track, all files on the PK or mPower and most on the classic will have been updated with this release. So you can either uninstall 3.x or just install overtop of the old 3.x. Both ways should work, except uninstalling 3.x first is safer and will remove the old manuals which are not needed anymore and are just wasting your precious disk space. Installing over top of an old version will not delete your old GPS manuals, so its up to you if you want to keep them around or not. I personally would uninstall and get rid of them.

This uninstaller will delete all versions of GPS including 3.5. You need to do a 123 (sdf) reset before running the uninstaller.

Yes it does providing you first of all do a 123 reset to stop the 3.3 software from running in the background with the Braillenote starts.
This is what I did and it worked perfectly. If you don't do this and try to install and get an error indicating that some files which need to be replaced cannot be as they are in use.

Marry Ellen, I'm not an expert here but you could look at what
other files
you can choose to remove that would free up space. If that
doesn't work,
I think you could try uninstalling the previous version. There
is an

Hi folks!
I have been trying all day long to upgrade the gps on the pk.
First of all when I got the gps file Uncle Norton decided that
it was not 
going to allow me to get into the file to unzip it.
Ok, So I had Sheila send me a pdf version of the file and now I
have
gotten thepdf file onto the flash card which is a 1 gb which
was
forematted to fat so there was nothing else on it and I put an
exe 
extensionon the end of the file name.
Ok here is where the problem comes in.  Istart the installation
by going
to the utilities manager and press the a for application program
and it
asks whic hdrive I want to run the application from so I hit c
for 
compact flash card.
Ok Then I hit enter on the gps v 3.5 etc and I get the welcome
and then
the command and after I get the enter hit I get the message
there isn't 
enough disk space to install the program.
What am I doing wrong? I know I am missing something here and
yes, I have
done all 3 of the different resets to no avail so what am I
doing wrong? 
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
