I had dinner last week with Eric just before he set off to Peru to lead some
blind folks on a trek to Machu Pichu. You can check on their trip at
http://www.globalexplorers.org.
I was reminiscing about the time I went their using my second Seeing Eye dog,
Rickie, a long haired shepherd. We trekked past Machu Pichu to Juana Pichu and
there were some dicey areas to be clambering with a dog. In one place,I was
pulling myself along with a rope and was helping my dog along by hoisting him
by the harness in the other hand.We had to crawl through a tunnel in one place.
At the top with the Urabamba River thundering several thousand feet below us,
it was pretty spectacular.
Since this was before GPS, I'll just have to go back and mark those places.
Mike
