[gps-talkusers] Re: survey about the chat room

Hello, Ann,
I take it by all that verbosity that you are pushing TCC. Well, that's OK by me. Should I just do a search for TCConference? I really like Skype. Audio is very clear, and it does not instantly crash if you use your keyboard with audio.

Hi all,

I think you are making this suggestion without truly examining both
software packages and making comparisons which are predicated on the
needs of the Sendero Group. Why go to an inferior software? You
can't push web pages or PowerPoint slides on For-The_People. You
can't use TCScreen if you like. You can't choose between saving text
chat, audio chat or both. The moderator controls are all accessible
with TCConference. Mike needs to have accessible software for his
company. Why exchange a working model for something that doesn't.
Besides, I've heard that For-The_People Chatter Box software isn't
friendly to firewalls.

For-The-People may be convenient for you because you have its
software, but it is *not* designed as a tool for the use of
professionals in the field of training! OPAL doesn't use Chatter Box.
Easi doesn't use Chatter Box. No, friend, your suggestion won't fly,
not in this case. These people want professional software with
features meant for professionals in the business world. They want
software that is capable of producing a multimedia presentation meant
for blind and sighted alike. It's a good suggestion, but it isn't
very practical.

See, if they spend money on acquiring a room for a chat for users, it's
only for that purpose, whereas, the TCConference software could be
used by Sendero for other purposes including: training for
distributors, training for sighted O&M instructors, conferencing with
government and educational officials in developing countries and in
Europe, staff meetings, and any number of other things where
conference software is needed and the ability to make multimedia
presentations is also required.

Sometimes I think when we ask companies to do things, we really don't
think through just exactly what we're asking. That is why it is so
very important for people who are blind to have access to information
via computers. Nothing replaces information, nothing!
