[gps-talkusers] route file extentions

Hi,
In upgrading to 6.2, I've attempted to get rid of old files no longer being used. 
I see in my routes folder two diferent file extensions.
I'm sure that most can be deleted but don't knnow what the current file extension is although I seem to remember it being Gps. 
I'm seeing files ending in Gps, and rte.


Can somebody clarify for me?
