[gps-talkusers] Re: release of 6.2 and PK reset

OK, Charles, I've heard quite a lot of Chris's recordings and can see the improvements in the place lookup, for example. Now I'm about to try the demo of 6.2 and am pretty sure I'll end up paying too! <Smiles>

Where do I find the demo and what do I do about getting the right maps and POIS? Where do they need to be installed?

Thanks.

Hello Richard,

Thanks for clarifying this reset issue on the PK, I kept
seeing people refer
to this incorrect combination and wanted to set the
record straight before
it got out of hand. So for the record C1C4 is a low
level reset and will
clear all registry settings. C3C4 is the normal reset
which when installing
GPS you would hold down dots 123 with C3C4.

Great to hear you ordered 6.2. All indications so far
are encouraging with
this latest GPS release. Also as a result of how we were
able to
dramatically improve route creation as a bonus the
product is a lot more
stable especially on the memory constrained PK.

Thanks

Hi Charles,
I made a slip. In my first email, I meant to write c1
c4, but in
my reply to Alice, I think i rectified the matter by
saying c1
c4.
I've orded version 6 of your wonderful gps program, and
am very
much looking forward to getting to grips with it.
Cheers, Richard.

Are you sure Richard that it is C2C4? I have never heard
of this
reset on
the PK. C3C4 is the standard reset. I just tried C2C4
and it
did nothing.

Hi, Richard,
   Oh, no, I've done a c1 c4 reset *many* times...but
I've never
done a c2
c4 reset, and I wondered what that was.
Glad my suggestion was helpful! Makes me feel as
though I
know what I'm
doing at least some of the time...ha ha

Hi alice,
now why didn't I think of that?
Great idea. I'm going to do that right now.
I'm surprised you've only had to do a c1 c4 reset once.
Thanks, Richard.

Hi, Richard,
I can't answer your questions about the gps
installation, but
if you
don't want the games, books and that other thing taking
up space
on your PK,
rather than trying to delete the folders themselves
only to have
them
reappear every time you do a reset, delete just the
contents of
the
folders...in other words, delete each game
individually, delete
the book
itself, etc. rather than deleting the games folder,
the book
folder, etc.
Clear as mud?
What is a c2 c4 reset and what does it do? I've
only ever had
to do a c1
c4 reset.
Thanks and good luck with the gps!

Hi everyone,
I have ordered, and look forward to getting, the
latest gps version.
It may be a daft question, but I was wondering
whether the new version will go back to the older one
when a c2c4 reset is performed on my Pk?
We all have to do this reset occasionally, and it's a
bit of a pain that the "my books", "my games", and
"keybase" folders reappear on the flash disk. I
don't want them, and they take up a big percentage of
flash disk space.
Anyway, i'm really excited about getting the new
version.
I still only have access to the Us maps when I go on
the Sendero site, so I suppose that must mean that I
have not got them in my bundle.
Finally, is it best to do the software download on a
pc or can
it
be done on the pk?
Can't wait, Richard.
