Jason,
I don't know if I should use the words deffinite and possible in the
same sentence. I will say that there are some very encouraging
developments. Navtech says they will have maps in the first quarter
of 2006 and Telcontar says they will have the map filter. These are
the two critical components we need to work with the BrailleNote.
Let's say I am causciously optomistic. This is the first real promise
of maps for Australia since we have been talking about this. I might
even say it is now more a question of when rather than if.

Hi Mike,
I didn't get around to replying to a message of yours I read a few
weeks ago on the list. Someone on the list was asking about the next
Wayfun event. You mentioned that if the Australian maps are ready,
then it will be a possible venue. Were you suggesting that there is
a definite possibility of maps being ready? I know you told me that
the maps could be ready tomorrow, or they could never be ready. You
did also say you had another lead at the time to follow up. I know
that you may not be able to promise a specific date, however if you
know something positive is in the wind, will you please let us know.
I am asking, as your comment that they may never be ready, is
causing me to seriously consider going for the Pac mate. I would
rather have a large GPS system, than none at all. However, if there
is a definite chance of maps becoming available during 2006, then I
am prepared to hold back for a while. My preference is for the
Braille note PK, or Trekker but the lack of maps is putting me off.
So if you do know something positive is in the wind, "please,
please, please" give me a strong hint. If I do end up going the Pac
mate way, I will not be in a position to change to the PK, unless I
am able to find someone to sell the Pac mate to.
thanks a lot Jason
