[gps-talkusers] possible WayFun 2008

Those who attended the Friday User's Group meeting in our suite at CSUN, gave feedback on a new concept for WayFun this year. Here is how it may work.
Sendero will recommend a 5 day walking tour out of Bath England run by the Bath and West Country tour company. We are suggesting the self guided tour for which we will provide POIs and a manual GPS route. An advance group will create this route in June.
The tour operator delivers your luggage to the accommodations each day. You stay in quaint accommodations in old villages. You walk across the countryside and take barges so I am told.
The tour involves two days in bath including the day you arrive, 3 days of walking 7 to 9 miles a day and then the wrap up day to make your way home.
Unlike our previous trips where 30 or more of us descend upon a location, this trip will take a maximum of 8. We will set up dates in July, August and September. The July trip will be in conjunction with the Sight Village conference in Birmingham where Sendero will have a booth this year.
For those coming from the US, the trip would entail about one week and roughly $1600 to $2000 for everything. The operator quoted 320 pounds for a 6 day trip based on two people per room. The trip we are proposing should be a bit less expensive, say approximately $600 unless the plunge in the dollar turns around.
We are now working out details and potential dates with the tour operator. It will be important that these mini groups are compatible in terms of personality and walking speed. People will have to be really honest about their physical abilities as the entire group could get bogged down if there was a slow walker.
We will encourage like-minded people to form their own groups so we don't have to be in the business of matching people up. We are hoping GPS users and potential users in the UK and Europe will consider joining this unique opportunity to explore the west country of England.
Stay tuned for more details. If you have a dog guide and plan to bring it to the UK, you should organize the required tests right away. There is a six month waiting period after the test.

Sunday Arrive in Bath-stay Bath

Monday -Explore the City further-stay Bath

Tuesday -Walk Bath to Bradford on Avon and stay overnight

Wednesday -Walk Bradford on Avon to Beckington-stay overnight

Thursday -Walk Beckington to Mells-stay overnight

Friday -begin trip home. Train from Bath to Heathrow about 2 hours
