[gps-talkusers] Re: not another quiet list message

We shall se, but it does not help when you see ten messages from the same individual experssing negativeness on the list, and yes to correct ya, I would damn well say what I said in person. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Michael May" <MikeMay@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>

Armando,

If one person breaks the rules, it doesn't help to have a second person respond in kind.

Unfortuanately, the impersonal nature of email allows people to say things they might not say in person.

I am hopeful that this is the end of this topic.

Armando,

I am writing you off list.
I have already sent Jerry a message reminding him that he is breaking the very rule I asked people not to break. I asked that nobody respond to my message nor about this quiet list thing any longer.

I'll ask you privately to do the same. Please leave the list moderation to us. No need to respond to rudeness with rudeness, particularly publicly.

I would like everyone to stay civil and on topic and I don't want to clutter the list even more with petty reminders.

Thanks for the understanding.

Shayna,
Today mike from Senderogroup have ask not to keep the thread moving about Quiet list and he ask all of us to stop it. I and a casually reader on this list and understand GPS a little but when you and other keep the same topic on the subject heading I just deleit your message and when we get to many of no nonsense mail from our group mail list then I feel like to drop out of thelist read what Mike said below. I am not trying to be a jerk but
please use your head.
Hey Folks,

After the first 5 messages called Quiet List, I had to resist mentioning
that there is no point in this type of message. The list goes quiet
sometimes and there is no need to have 5 messages to figure this out.

Now, when there are 21 messages called quiet list, we are really being
flagrant. There were only two messages about GPS and 21 off topic. I have no problem with the topics being discussed but this is not a social list and other than the half dozen people socializing, there are hundreds of others who probably would prefer not to add to the clutter of their email boxes
with these off-topic messages.

This is the second time I have had to chime in with an admonishment and I really hate to have to do any list moderation. I prefer for list readers to
manage themselves and that happens most of the time.

Once again, here are some basic list guidelines:
1. Write about anything having to do with GPS.
 2. If someone writes off-topic, please don't respond.
3. There is no need for short acknowledgement or thank you messages.
Write privately off-list if you need to thank someone.
4. We can disagree as long as it is done so respectfully.

There is no need for anyone to respond to this message. Let's just consider
it a reminder of the list guidelines.

Many thanks for being an active listener and/or writer on this GPS list and
thanks for being a good list citizen.

All the best for the holidays.

Mike

Hi Debbie,

Yes, very interesting!
You just reminded me of one of the most interesting then off the beat
tourist sights in Los Angeles. there is a street called Alvira Street which

is aroudnn the downtown area of LA. I think that I was only there once ...
Why would I go touring if I live there?!

We must have gone there once with a relative who was visiting from out of
town. Very very interesting ... A little taste of Mexico.

Shayna

P.S. Your other post came through twice.

Hi Shayna, yes, it's OT, but interesting to me, anyway. To bring this
back to GPS, though, I think part of using GPS is the ability to go to
different places, and along the way to experience various cultures--food, songs, etc. Even within the U.S. there are so many things I don't know
about, places I've never been. Ah, someday! Debby and Cleo
