Charles,
How about launching the Word Processor, instead of the Book Reader?
I just see a ton of possibilities with this feature, linking a database, webpage, URL, etc.
Thanks,
Matt

Hi Matt,
Yes unfortunately this is a limitation to only allow KWT or KWB documents. Humanware would need to add in some more hooks into the launching of the bookreader to allow us to specify the type of document being opened. Currently the bookreader when launched from within GPS expects the document in either of those two formats. We tested with txt and it seemed to work but you only got part of the file. Hopefully in future a Keysoft release this will be addressed.

Thanks
Charles

Charles,
Does the BN only support KWB and KWT text files for POI attachment?
How about TXT, or MS-word documents?
Thanks

Hello JJ, Armando and all
Yes you are correct JJ, 4.2 does not come with all the restaurant menus, my gosh if we did you can be sure that would have been a HUGE deal about that little gem. What GPS 4.2 allows you to do is link a POI you create to a audio wav file or a KWT or KWB document which you create. One example of a use for this would be to link it to a menu. Other uses could be to link it to a voice description of a sculpture in a park for example. GPS 4.2 also allows you to record using the BrailleNote's recording functionality a voice clip describing this audio POI. To link a new POI to a menu one would first find the menu, possibly online at the Restaurants website and grab the text save it on the BrailleNote as either a KWT or KWB file then link it to the POI. This would be a user POI probably with the subcategory of Restaurant. So whenever you arrive near that restaurant you will be notified that POI had additional richmedia content and the GPS would launch the bookreader and playback that menu if you wanted. Then if you wanted to share that "richmedia POI" with everyone else you could send Sendero the user.poi containing this POI along with your "POIContent" directory (a new folder located under your maps folder) and Sendero would post the new user collective POIs along with your rich media menu file for that restaurant. In the future we hope to make this process more streamlined but currently it is possible with a little work.
Hope that clarifies things.
Thanks
Charles.

Hello Armando,
To my knowledge, no restaurant menus are actually included with the new version. A new feature has been added which allows you to link text or audio content to a point of interest. One example for a possible use of this feature was to link a restaurant menu to a POI, though it certainly isn't the only use for the new feature. So, once some users have menus to share, you may see more of this.
Hope this helps.

Hello Mmembers,
For those who downloaded the newest version of gps, how do I get this to read restaurant menus? I could not find that specific feature, and honestly, that and the saving maps to print were the things that attracted me the most in downloading the gps. Thanks.
