As you know, we are always looking at ways to maximize listening to
audio in a mobile environment. I am now testing the Oakley Orokr sun
glasses with Bluetooth. We have mentioned the Bluetooth dongle for
the BrailleNote and various wireless headsets and speakers. We sell
the Outi wired headphones. Here is one more option to consider.
Sendero Mini Stereo Speaker
You will enjoy the full benefits of miniaturization when you use the
Sendero Mini speaker. It is roughly the size of a golf ball,
flattened on opposite sides. Those flat spots are the stereo
speakers. There is an eighth inch swivel plug right on the speaker.
You can plug it directly on top of a Victor Stream or IPod. A 3 foot
extension cable with volume control is included.
The custom case is designed with two flaps to wrap through the loop
of the shoulder strap as it passes through its shoulder pad. In this
way, you can have the speaker on your neck near your ears.
You control the volume from your device or from the control on the
extension cable. The Mini speaker can get pretty loud. It sounds
reasonable for such a small speaker.
There is only one switch for power and one small jack for charging.
It comes with a USB cable for charging off your computer or
BrailleNote. It does not include an AC charging plug. If you don't
have one already for other devices, you can get a USB charger from C
Crane, which has both AC and cigarette lighter plugs with a USB input on it.
You should get 8 to 10 hours battery life out of a full charge. It is
wise to plug the speaker in after any extended use to make sure it is
fully charged.
Caution: Be careful not to drive the speaker with excessive volume or
the tiny speakers may blow out. A little moisture shouldn't hurt the
speakers but there is a web cover over the speaker grill and it won't
stand up to rain. Put it inside a jacket pocket if it starts raining.
The list price for the Sendero Mini stereo Speaker is $59 or $49 if
you purchase it at the same time as another Sendero product. It is
available at our on-line store.
