[gps-talkusers] Re: keyboard lock

Hi Vicky,

Well, maybe Carl's post on why you're not getting repeated intersection id will
be of value. As for the repeats, I usually set it to mx for repeat nearest
intersection and then lock the keyboard. I use braille only as well, and it
works just fine. So, there must be something else going on here.

Hi Don,

So, then it is indeed supposed to be repeating info when the keyboard is
locked, assuming one has it set to do so? If so, then I must be doing
something wrong again, as I don't get any info except that the keyboard is
locked and how to unlock it. Now, most often when I've done this, I've been
using the Braille only. So, if something repeats, would it then repeat in
speech only, seeing that the keyboard is locked?

Hi Vicky,

The keyboard lock does, as you say, lock the keyboard. It helps keep you
from accidently exiting gps or executing commands you don't want while
walking
or whatever. I usually lock the keyboard when I have the gps repeating my
position every 12 seconds or whatever repeat value I set. I find it very
helpful
for that.

I'm using the PK, although that might not make a difference in this case.
But, what is the purpose of the keyboard lock? Oh, I know it locks the
keyboard; but, are you supposed to be able to perform or, maybe more likely,
hear any GPS commands while it is locked? Although I saw this keystroke in
the command list, I didn't see any mention of it in the manual.
