Lloyd,
I will send you some information off list.
In short, you will need a VoiceNote starting at $1395 or a
BrailleNote plus the BrailleNote GPS software around $1399. The main
decision is whether or not you want a braille display and if so an 18
or 32 cell unit. If portability is essential, then the BrailleNote
PK, just under one pound, is the best solution.
In the process of considering the GPS, one must evaluate overall
portable information needs.

Subject: [gps-talkusers] Maiden voyage was a bust
Hi, guys. Well, my maiden voyage with the new GPS was a bust. I
don't think it was because of the program, as I never got far
enough along to use it. I turned on my Earthmate, and got gps
receiver not detected. Remembering that Carl said to use the m
instead of the g for the Earthmate, I went into receiver
options. Even though I'd changed it to an m last night after
reading his message, it said g. I hit m, and it bounced me out of
the receiver options into the GPS menu. I checked, and the
receiver was still showing g. I kept trying and trying to reset it
back to m, but no go. I tried other receiver settings just for the
fun of it, and they took, although of course they wouldn't
work. But that blessed m just wouldn't take. I finally decided to
do a reset. For those who aren't on the BrailleNote list, I've had
a problem with micro drives locking up my mPower when I insert them
with the unit on, so I've been trying to remember to insert them
with the unit off. If I do it wrong, it corrupts files that run
Keysoft, and I end up in a reset loop, where I do one kind of reset
and it tells me to do another, then another type, then another
type, ad nauseum. Chris from Humanware helped me fix it
yesterday; but in my efforts to get things working tonight, I
forgot and stuck in the micro drive while the mPower was on, and it
locked up and I'm back in my reset loop and don't know all the
steps to get my files uncorrupted so my mPower resets work
right; and I still don't know how to get the m for the receiver
type to take so I can use my Earthmate.
