Kevin,
I have just double checked and this issue has been submitted as a new
feature request for a new release.

Subject: [gps-talkusers] exiting the exit
I have found that after accidentally closing a number of routes that were in
progress by accidentally hitting space with e a little too many times and
having to go back into the GPS program and recreate the entire route, this
was fine with those shorter routes, but became time consuming with those
routes that are longer than 20 miles. I figured there must be a way of
exiting the exit. Well, if it ask do you wish to save the route, you can
either hit space with e (control with e), space with z (control with z), or
on a QT the escape key.
