The BrailleNote manual recommends that one remove a compact flash or micro drive from the BrailleNote when you have the unit switched off. I have pretty much ignored this advice with regard the the compact flash card because no obvious problems occurred.

However, I am now convinced that leaving the CF card in the slot all the time, particularly overnight or for a long time, will contribute to a greater number of exception errors.

We advise getting in the habit of popping cards out of their respective slots when turning the BrailleNote off.
