Any chance you got into virtual mode accidentally?
The only time you might have a hard time getting a heading in GPS mode is if the signal is poor. If it is fair or better and you walk a ways, you should get a heading. 

If this persists, call Sendero tech support.

yes I know that, but usually it picks up the direction after a while, from what I have noticed but it is lately for some reason it has been messing up!
