It is certainly possible. I do a bit of sailing and do utilize
the gps. We tend to turn on repeat announcements, plug it into a
speaker or sound system on the boat, and keep it strapped to me
with some sort of water protection around the braillenote. The
gps receiver is attached where it can stay dry near the front
(bow) of the boat. I tie it in a waterproof bag and clip it to
something stable on rainy or rough days. It's one more thing to
handle and keep track of, but it sure makes the experience more
enjoyable and a bit safer. David

Has anyone used the GPS while skippering a boat? I'm a sailor and
wondered
if it would be useful, or possible to operate the GPS while
steering and
holding ropes. You don't have any hands free on the boat. Also,
the unit
might get knocked around a lot, especially in strong wind. Does
this affect
it? Has anyone invented a way of fastening the PK GPS receiver
combo into
the open cockpit of a boat so it can still be used?
Cheers
Kylie

When you are on a trip like that set Poys of your own and you can
make a rout if you like or use them next time. I like to set
them so I can tell when the driver is turned around. Might not
ever happen but it would be nice if you need the coastguard.

Well 3 years ago when in Hawaii I used my gps ona boat which we
took so the
sighties in our group could see the marine life. While they were
doing that
I played with the GPS and mainly only got latitude and longitude
as we were
pretty far from land so I couldn't pick up any POI(s).

Did any of you try using Sendero GPS to navigate a rowing boat?
I heard
something about sailing in the ocean, but that sounds too scary
for me at
this time. But if I set a POI at the shore of a lake, then I
can row my
boat anywhere on the lake and come back to that shore. That
would be
awsome. There are a lot of lakes in my area where you can rent
a boat. I
just wonder if anyone has tried something like that. Just hope
that
nothing
will happen to the GPS system while you are out there.
