[gps-talkusers] Re: e: NEW HOLUX M1000

Chris,

That unfolds a mystery that I'd thought about and hadn't found an answer to so far ... because I do get speeds of 0 when I am walking. OK, now I know what to do about my Holux, at least where to start.

Hi Carol,
Holux has a special firmware that they created with WAAS enabled and a
feature called static navigation.
the static navigation feature is what allows the receiver to track at
slow speeds.
You would need to send your receiver to Holux, they would update the
firmware, I'm not sure what the cost involved would be for them to
update the firmware so WAAS and Static navigation are enabled.
if you are walking at slow speeds and hit s for speed, if it says you
are not moving and you are going under 2 mph and are actually moving
then the static navigation feature may not be enabled.
Hope this helps.

Chris,

Does this mean that a GPSlim 236 not purchased from Sendero could use some
modification to make it work better at slower walking speeds?
