[gps-talkusers] Re: e: NEW HOLUX M1000

Chris,

Does this mean that a GPSlim 236 not purchased from Sendero could use some modification to make it work better at slower walking speeds?

Hi,
it is true, the GPSlim 236 was modified for Sendero to have WAAS
enabled by default, it also had a feature turned on that allowed the
receiver to track at slow speeds.
With the m-1000 this is not the case. no special modifications are
needed. it just works out of the box.

So, if I remember correctly, the gpslim236 that Sendero sells has been
specially modifed. I think this modification was to always have waas
turned on.

Am I right about this, and is a similar modification necesary for the
M1000?

Thanks,

Jim

 Carol,

I will list the benefits below:
* 17 hours of battery life as compared to 8 on the (GPSlim236)
* still has an on/off switch
* will fit into GPSlim236 case, uses same charger and battery as well
* uses a newer chipset that allows greater accuracy, greater sensativity,
and greater battery life
* will get waas more often
* cheaper as well

I know that the above didn't directly answer your question regarding
being a
cane user and slower speeds but thought I throw in the benefits of this
reciever.
