Hi, Mike. I am ready to start submitting poi's. could you give us some
examples of how we might edit one so it looks correct and displays the
correct information?
Thanks.

Subject: [gps-talkusers] Re: collective User POI description
Okay, let me begin with an explanation of how the POI files work.
The commercial compressed POI files all have a BPI extension. Your own user
created files are named user.poi. The collective user files I create for
various regions take your user.poi files and compress them into the BPI
style files with appropriate names for the regions where those points are
created. So, there is a file for the US and Canada, one for Europe and the
UK and another for other international countries.
Once you send me your personal User.poi file and I include it in the
collective BPI file, you would want to copy that new BPI file into your maps
folder. In order to avoid duplicate announcements of the same points, you
must remove the previous month's BPI file as well as the User.poi file you
sent me. Otherwise you are going tohere your personal points as many as 3
times.
Again:
Step 1: Move your User.poi file out of your maps folder and send it to me.
Step 2: Download the new BPI file and copy it into your maps folder.
Step 3, Delete the previous month's BPI file of a similar name to the new
one you put in the maps folder.
Note: If you are in Europe, you may not even have the US user files
installed. You would only download the zip file containing files for your
region and maybe not all of those files will have been changed. You will be
able to tell by the year and month designation on each file.
Hope that helps.
Mike
