[gps-talkusers] cancellation of project for freeware GPS program for notebook pcs

 
As many of you know, I was developing a freeware product to replace the
talking GPS product which ran on pcs, but I'm afraid this announcement
is to say my health has taken a turn for the worse, and I don't think
I'll be able to do that.
 
If anyone else feels like they'd like to take on this project, I'd be
glad to pass along what I had learned, but I've not got anything but a
prototype written in an interpreted language good enough for doing
prototyping to prove that it worked, but not good enough for final
release.
 
If I recover I'd like to take it up again, but I suspect someone will
release this sooner or later anyway as a commercial product.  Commercial
products do have their advantages, including much better and more timely
support and development and enhancements.
 
I wanted to make this public just in case anyone was holding back their
development efforts because they knew I had been working on this
project.
