Jeff,
You can of course edit the User POIs within the GPS program on your
BrailleNote. As far as editing them with a text editor, you can't
unless you send it to me and I convert it to a text file, which I can
do on an occasional basis.

Hello Mike:
Probably repeating a question here, but is there any way/software that will
allow us to directly edit the user POI files?? We would then have the
ability to send up very specific files of data particular to a place or
region.
What utility or databasing software read's these files?? Also, if you get a
chance, would you contact me off list. I've got a lead on more transit stop
information for some larger cities. My PM is jeff@xxxxxxxxxxx
Thanks
Jeff

Hope,
The collective user file contains about 10,000 user points for the US
and Canada. It is a compressed indexed format and has a BPI extension.
Since user points don't take much space, it is just easier to have
one entire user POI file rather than worrying about separating them
by state or region.
If you have 3 folders for the entire U.S. as many of us do, then you
would have a User.poi file in each of those folders. The file has the
same name so there is no way to tell the difference once you take it
out of the map folder unless you rename it.
If anyone has accumulated 100 or more user POIs, you really should
send them to be added to the compressed user file. The collective
user file is compressed so it takes less room and runs faster than
the personal user.poi file.
If you don't want to contribute your points and have hundreds of user
POIs, email me off the list and I may be able to turn those points
into a personal compressed file for you.
