[gps-talkusers] awaiting your User POIs

Hope,

The collective user file contains about 10,000 user points for the US and Canada. It is a compressed indexed format and has a BPI extension.

Since user points don't take much space, it is just easier to have one entire user POI file rather than worrying about separating them by state or region.

If you have 3 folders for the entire U.S. as many of us do, then you would have a User.poi file in each of those folders. The file has the same name so there is no way to tell the difference once you take it out of the map folder unless you rename it.

If anyone has accumulated 100 or more user POIs, you really should send them to be added to the compressed user file. The collective user file is compressed so it takes less room and runs faster than the personal user.poi file.

If you don't want to contribute your points and have hundreds of user POIs, email me off the list and I may be able to turn those points into a personal compressed file for you.

Hi. Since you mention user.poi files I figured I'd ask this question.
If a collective user.poi file is created, how are the different states
differentiated? To clarify, do you have different user.poi files for each
different state people have created? For instance: if there was pois for
Nebraska in the user.poi file this month, but I don't have the map and
wouldn't use it, it would take up space on my card, right?
Thank you in advance for answering the questions. I have had this gps for
about a year (I think) and learn so many new things from this list.

Hope and Beignet

Please send me your User.poi file to be added to the collective file
this month.

You can find it in the maps folder. Move it from that folder to a
back-up location. Attach it in an email to me, not to the list.
