Here are some suggestions from a fellow GPS and guide dog user.
Take it a bit slower and with less worry. There is a lot to learn. When I
started, I found it helpful to pick a few things that I wanted to be
proficient in and learn them first. I also go for periods of time not using
GPS and find I have to relearn a lot that I may have forgotten the next
time I use it.
You can do many of the keystrokes with one hand. I wear the BrailleNote
hanging on my right side and use my right hand to do one-handed keystrokes
as I walk, but I also sometimes stop, put my dog at sit, and do some things
where I want to use two hanhds.
