[gps-talkusers] Re: a brave new world - cellular phone accessibility

Hello everyone, ,

I have been lerking on this list for a while now. I don't believe that I have
written a message here though. Hopefully my message won't be to long winded
though.

I have been doing a lot of searching on the internet about the issue of
cellular phone accessibility as I had been with sprint for about 4 years, and
didn't want to switch companies, but after my research, I have since switched
to cingular. First of all though, Yes, Nokia does make phones that can be used
with 2 software packages that provide speech output. They are: "Talks", and
"Mobile Speak". Below is a link to a review of the 2 screen readers on the
Nokia 6620. You may have to copy the following links to your clipboard as they
are quite long.

Also in May 2004 Access World talked about a couple of different options for
cellular phone access. Here is the link for the May 2004 issue.
http://www.afb.org/afbpress/pub.asp?DocID=aw0503toc

After reading both of the articles, you may notice that the Nokia 6620 offers
the best accessibility. I have also placed a link below to cingular that
explains the details of the rebate that they offer for the Talks software.
Basically though if you purchase the talks software from them, for $199 you can
get a service credit of the price for the software after 30 days.
Here is the link to cingular:

You may want to also check with your cell phone provider to see if the provider
has any series 60 phones that will work with these screen reader packages. If
cingular isn't an option, you can also purchase the Talks software from Sendero
group. They can be reached at:
