Subject: [gps-talkusers] Wi Fi Finder
I'm wondering if any of the commercial databases list wifi as a
category, so we could search for that just like we can search for
restaurants. If I know that I'll have a gap between appointments,
before I leave home I check http://www.wififreespot.com/ - where there's
a link for each state, and the places seem to be very up to date,
although I call first before I go there. But once you get to your state
page, the hot spots are only listed by city. So if there isn't a hot
spot for the city I'm in, I have to figure out what towns I'll be
travelling through en route from Point A to Point B, and then look for
spots in those cities. I don't need it often enough to want to pay for
an account that I could access from the Starbucks that seem to be on
every corner!
Wouldn't it be cool to be able to search the POI's where I am for wifi
hot spots, and then widen the search by a couple of miles if it doesn't
see any real close?
